To mark the launch of our new website, Studio Gaunt worked with The Swiss Cultural Fund UK, transcribing interviews for a private view celebrating the influence of Swiss typography on British designers held on 5 October in London.

Echoing our new website design, this exhibition showcases how word-craft and the art of publishing shape understanding and translate verbal into visual meaning.

The partnership is a perfect representation of what Studio Gaunt stands for: carefully crafted translations, the value of international communications, the democracy of clear writing and an awareness and love of local style.

Designer Marc Sanz found inspiration for the Studio Gaunt website in one of the earliest forms of tyography: illuminated manuscripts. From Lindisfarne to the Iberian peninsula, monks carefully illuminated key texts to convey their message to elites who might not necessarily be able to read, or to read latin. These works of art were then treated as valuable objects, passed on and preserved.

Welcome to the art of words.
